BJD declares candidates for Nabarangpur district.

The BJD party tickets for the ensuing polls in four Assembly constituencies of Nabarangpur district has finalised.  Minister & District BJD President Ramesh Chandra Majhi, will contest from  Jharigam, Manohar Randhari, from Nabarangpur, Subash Gond, from Umerkote,  Zilla Parisad President, Motiram Nayak, will contest from  Dabugam assembly constituency. Tension high over homeguard’s death in Umerkote.

 Protests rocked  Umerkote following the suspected suicide of a home guard at the treasury adjacent to the sub judge court on Thursday.
The deceased home guard Paduram Bhatra of Sanakumari was on night duty at the treasury with other police personnel. This morning his dead body was found in the treasury roof.  He was found hanging, said local people.
In a spontaneous reaction, hundreds of villagers stormed the treasury and the sub judge court.
They ransacked and vandalised the premises before  police force was rushed to the spot. Furniture, computers and several other articles in the court and  were damaged in the mob attack.Villagers alleged that the police cane charged them while the police maintained that it had ‘chased’ the violent mob. The angry villagers gheraoed the treasury and the court demanding a high level probe and adequate compensation to the bereaved family. The clash between the villagers and the police left several people injured on both sides. The tahasildar, Umerkote  Tarani Suna, inspector in charge S K Upadhaya, assistant sub inspector Bulu Patnaik and other policemen were hurt in the stone pelting that took place.
The villagers rubbished the police version that home guard Paduram had committed suicide. How can he commit suicide when he was on night duty with other police staff at the treasury, questioned the villagers. They suspected foul play and demanded an impartial probe.

Lok Sabha & Assembly Election in Odisha will be held in 10th, & 17th April.

The Election Commission on Wednesday announced the schedule for Lok Sabha polls 2014. Polling will be held in nine phases, starting April 07 and the counting of votes will be held on May 16.

For the first phase  election 10 lok sabha and 70 Vidan sabha, Bargarh, Sundergard, Sambalpur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kandhmal, Aska, Berhampur and Koraput, to be held on 10^th April. For the first phase filing nomination will from March 15^th to 22^nd, scrutiny on 24^th, and withdrawn on 26^th April.

For the second phase 11 loksabha and 77 vidan sabha polls in  Kendujhor, Mayurbhanj, Baleswar, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Bhubaneswar, scheduled to be held on 17^th April.  Filing of nominations from 19^th  to 26^th  March, scrutiny on 27^th and withdrawn on 29^th March.   

 

Foundation Stone laid for Kalyan Mandap at Umerkote.

Umerkote: 

Foundation Stone was laid for Kalyan Mandap, taxi union and stalls at Umerkote today. Chief guest Sports Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi, inpresence of Umerkote MLA Subash Gond, NAC Chairperson Pinki Agrawal, Executive officer Manaranjan Panda, laid the foundation stone. Lack of proper parking facilities at the bus-stand MLA Subash Gond, assured to provide  parking place near the Kalyan Mandap, taxi stand and stalls.

SANKHA BAJAO SWABHIMAN BANCHAO RALLY AT NABARANGPUR.

District BJD organised Sankha Bajao Swabhiman Banchao rally here on Monday. Near about hundreds of bikes  travels from Indravati bridge to Nabarangpur town, Tentulukhunti and Nandahandi block.

Nabarangpur MLA, Manohar Randhari, district general Secretary Asis Ranjan Patnaik, Nabarangpur Block Chairman, Badyabyasa Bhatra, Nandahandi Vice-chairman Dibyadan Suna, and many leaders participated in the Blow Conch rally. The programme is aimed at highlighting the “Central neglect” towards the State and sensitising people about the welfare measures undertaken by the BJD Government particularly for the poorer sections of the society
