Nabarangpur:
Police on Sunday arrested 16 persons including three women in in
connection with the ransacking of the Umerkote sub-judge court room in
Nabarangpur district on Thursday by an irate mob following the
mysterious death of a home guard who was on night duty at the sub
treasury in the same premises on Wednesday.
It may be recalled here that hundreds of villagers including women of nearby Sanakumari village had ransacked the sub judge office here following the mysterious death of home guard Paduram Bhatra, a fellow villager. Bhatra was found hanging from the ceiling in an office room. The angry villagers alleging that the home guard had been murdered, resorted to stone pelting at policemen and ransacked judges’chambers also injuring at least four policemen in the action, following which the police had to resort to baton charging.
